Company Background:
CAPS CASES was founded in 1982 by it’s current owners Charlie Bissett and Peter Bush. Trading out of a 5000 square foot factory in Newmarket with just six employees the company was able to compete in the recession of the early 80’s. From the beginning the company set out to enter niche markets in packaging including assembled divisions and pallet containers. This policy has continued over the years with the company also specialising in 6 point gluing, high quality print and the development of the patented “Klikstor” archive storage box.
In 1995 the company opened a factory in Baillieston, Glasgow primarily to supply assembled divisions to the whisky industry. This factory is able to supply both corrugated and solidboard “Eurolok” divisions. The factories at Newmarket and Bailleston are fully integrated and all Sales, Purchasing and Accounts functions are based in Newmarket.
By 2009 the company had achieved annual sales of over £12m, employing 115 full time staff in 85,000 square feet of manufacturing space.
It is testimony to the loyalty of the company’s employees that 40% of our workforce have worked at CAPS for over 15 years, many as their first employment. Of the 6 people who started in 1982, 4 are still with us!
Many people ask where the name came from. The owners and their wives…
